Global Week of Action, April 20th-27th 2009

On a international web conference on SUN, Nov 30th, 3GMT, students fixed the date when the upcoming Global Week of Action is about to happen. Here are their results, in engl, w niemieckim jézyku and in polish.

In light of global financial insecurity, more and more people ask themselves:

Is the public education system still serving the interests of the public,
or is the focus shifting to implement education systems that primarily serve private and business interest?

How will I afford college for my children?

How will I ever pay off all the student loans?

How much more will fees increase?

In continuation with the International Students Movement's November 5th 2008 day of action, students in countries around the globe are celebrating a week of action.

During the week of April 20th-2th 2009 students, teachers, and citizens around the world are uniting to reclaim education from the grip of commercialization and neoliberal policies.

Some groups will be protesting in the streets, others will be raising awareness on campus, but we will all be fighting for the same goal - education for all! One World - One Struggle, Education is NOT for Sale!

Im Bewußtsein globler finanzieller Unsicherheit fragen sich mehr und mehr Menschen: orientiert sich das öffentliche Bildungssystem noch an den Interessen und Bedürfnissen der Öffentlichkeit, oder werden wir Zeugen der Implementierung eines Bildungssystems, das primär privatwirtschafts- militärischen Interessen dient?

Wie soll ich mir ein Studium für meine Kinder leisten?

Wie soll ich je diese Studiengebühren bezahlen, die sich anhäufenden Kredite abzahlen können?

Wie hoch werden die Gebühren noch steigen?

Im Anschluß an den im November stattgefundenen Aktionstag der Internationalen Studentenbewegung (5. November 2008) haben Studenten aus Ländern der Welt eine Aktionswoche ausgerufen. (begründung der änderung in: korrektur934759034523908)

Während dieser Woche (20.-27. April) schließen sich Studenten, Lehrer und Einwohner weltweit zusammen, um die Bildung von der Kommerzialisierungs- und neoliberalen Politik zurückzufordern. (klingt zunächst "komisch" oder "gewöhnungsbedürftig", aber evtl. akzeptabel.)
