Ungdomshuset Solidarity

English

On March 9, there was another solidarity picket in front of the Danish embassy in Warsaw, this time to demand the release of everyone arrested during the Ungdomshuset protests. Among those present was one of the members of the Anarchist Federation who was arrested and deported from Poland.

This is the second picket in Warsaw and there was one direct action involving burning and smashed Lego cops and prisons. Protests have taken place in other cities in Poland as well. On March 8, people demonstrated at the consulate in Krakow. (Photo from this protest.) Earlier pickets also took place in Wroclaw and Poznan.

One thing to be pointed out about are some of the consequences of these arrests. For example, some people arrested from Poland had their passports stolen by the Danish police. Also property like mobile phones were stolen and presumably the cops will try to use anything in it they can. Another thing is that hundreds of anarchists originally from here live in other countries, some for most of their lives. Despite this, it may be that they only ever had Polish citizenship or residency, which means that the pigs decided to deport them, without documents, to Poland instead of the places they live. Help is organized for such people who basically cannot move because of lack of documents and who may face difficulties getting new ID, especially if they were or are conscientious objectors. You must produce proof of service in order to get an ID and if you didn't serve, they can take you to the army.
