[The Iraq Freedom Congress (http://www.ifcongress.com/english/index.htm
) is a libertarian, secularist, non-violent, democratic, and progressive group that opposes Ba'athism, Islamism, and nationalism -- as well as the US invasion/occupation.
The Iraq Freedom Congress has organized a self-defense Safety Force that patrols neighborhoods in Iraq (population: 5,000) and has reduced sectarian violence there to zero. However, far from supporting this effort, US forces have assassinated the head of these Safety Forces (http://tinyurl.com/25yknr ).
For some unfathomable reason, not only the mainstream media but even most of the best anti-war sites (e.g., http://antiwar.com/
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/ http://www.rawstory.com/ and
http://www.juancole.com/ -- all sites worth checking every day) have entirely failed to report on the Iraq Freedom Congress, even though I have tried to bring the IFC to their attention. The few that have covered the IFC include http://www.ww4report.com/ and
http://opednews.com/ . I hope readers will try to bring the IFC to the wider attention it deserves.

The Anti-Oil Law Front Stages a Mass Demonstration in Baghdad
The US Forces Tried To Provoke the Demonstrators
The Anti-oil Law Front staged a demonstration in the center of Baghdad
(Liberation Square) under Liberty Monument. The demonstrators raised
slogans in English and Arabic denouncing the oil Law and chanted against
the US administration and its appointed government. The US forces
surrounded the rally for half an hour and took pictures of the
demonstrators who carried the banners. They also blocked the traffic to
prevent people joining the demonstration in an attempt to spread terror
among whoever intends to join the rally. The area was filled with
hundreds of police and National Guard of whom dozens sympathized with
the demonstrators and the cause.
Also dozens of Arab, foreign and domestic media broadcasted the event
live and conducted interviews with the leaders of the demonstration. The
event has involved many speeches by Subhi Al-Badri president of the
front and Chairman of IFC executive bureau, Sami Hassan, Political
Bureau member of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq and Faleh Mactof
secretary of Federation of workers councils and unions in Iraq.
The demonstrators raised banners with slogans saying "Down with the oil
law, the oil law is the law of occupation; 26 million people reject the
law of occupation, etc. . ."
This demonstration comes as part of the campaign launched by the
Anti-oil Law Front, which comprised of sit-ins, strikes, conferences and
gatherings.

On The Bloody Fighting Between the Sadr Militia and the Islamic Supreme
Council Militias
Since yesterday, and the militia groups (Sadr and the Islamic Supreme
Council) turned many cities of Iraq to battlefields and military
barracks; and the atmosphere of terror has dominated the lives and
livelihoods of people as if they needed more killings and crimes. This
came after fighting erupted between supporters of the two groups in the
city of Karbala (95 Km southwest of Baghdad) in a religious event.
These Shiite (classified) militias have effectively contributed
politically or militarily to the sectarian war that is raging today in
the "new Iraq" in variable rates. These militias are not hesitant to
commit heinous massacres against innocent people. Not too long ago, they
killed hundreds of innocents after classifying them as Sunnis following
Samara bombings, and today they open fire indiscriminately on people in
the areas of worship to kill each other.
We have already made known that the sectarian militias, regardless of
affiliation are willing to commit monstrous crimes in order to achieve
their interests, strengthen their influence and expand their power
through terror and murder. What happened between the Sadr and the
Supreme Council militias is part of the political and security chaos.
Also it is another proof of the failure of the entire political process
in Iraq and the occupation scenario. These militias have no standard of
respect for human dignity and values.
Let's unite our ranks around the banner of Iraq Freedom Congress and its
slogans "No to the occupation . . . No to the sectarian gangs." Let's
form Safety Force to expel those gangs from your regions.

On The Recent Fabrications Made By A Number Of Suspicious and
Discredited Groups Against the Leaders Of The General Union of Oil
Employees (GUOE)
A statement issued by suspicious groups contains numerous fabrications
such as accusing leaders of GUOE as being Baath Party (former regime)
members, in order to induce people to physically liquidate these leaders
because of their stance against the draft oil law that was established
by the US giant corporation
The prevalent tradition and justification to get rid of political
opponents in today's Iraq ("the new Iraq" as the pro-occupation puppets
like to call it); is to fabricate false stories about their opponents of
being members of Baath Party to pave the road for the sectarian gangs to
massacre them later. Those sectarian groups killed thousands of innocent
people and their rivals in broad daylight under the same headings in
order to impose their power. For instance, in the road leading to the
southern regions in Iraq people can see banners bearing the same
meanings such as "whoever violates the oil law or opposes Almaliki
government is Ba'athist" which means an explicit invitation to kill and
liquidate anyone who violates the occupation forces and its puppet
government.
The brothers Hassan Jumaa, Faleh Abboud and Abdullah Al-Maliki . . . who
are the leaders of GUOE are also leaders of Iraq Freedom Congress and
the struggle of GUOE to thwart the passage of a draft oil bill is part
of IFC struggle to topple this ominous law.
The call for inciting directly and indirectly, to suppress the opponents
of the law of servitude will be resisted with all possible forms by Iraq
Freedom Congress. These suspicious fabrications will not be able to stop
the struggle of the people who yearn for freedom and will not be able to
stop the growing movement to realize a world without occupation and
sectarian gangs.
Iraq Freedom Congress condemns these fabrications and accusations and
stands firmly with full potential and energies to defend the leaders'
safety and security and to protect their dignity.

Statement Iraq Freedom Congress on The Political Crisis In Iraq
The Moderate Front Is A Repercussion Of The Failure Of The US Project
Yesterday a formation of the Moderate Front was announced. This front is
consisted of Islamic Supreme Council, Al-Dawa Party and both Kurdish
Parties PUK and PDK. This formation followed the withdrawal of Ayad
Alawi fraction (National accord), suspension of Iraqi Accord Front and
the resignation of al-Sadr group from the government. This means that
Al-Maliki government lost its legal authority after the resignation of
more than half of its members.
This new alliance comes as a desperate attempt to prevent the collapse
of the government, which is based at the same time on sectarian militias.
After more than 6 months of the declaration of Bush's new strategy, as
well as Law Imposing plan for which more than 20 thousand US troops were
sent to Iraq, the security situation is exacerbated, murdering more
innocents and the expansion of the scope of the deteriorated security to
other cities such as Hilla, Diwaniyah, Nasiriyah and Basra, the increase
of suicidal operations and the strengthening of sectarian militias . . .
As well as the escalation of the occupation forces of their crimes
against civilians in the name of hunting down the terrorists. The
developments that stormed Al-Maliki government are expressions of how
deep the crisis is.
The policy of the occupation since the first day of the formation of the
Governing Council was based on ethnic and sectarian quota that has
disgracefully divided the Iraqi society and today's conflict among the
sectarian and nationalist groups that endorsed the occupation and joined
the political process is a direct result of this quota. Also All the
projects put forward by the occupation forces to save Al-Maliki
government from the deadlock such as national reconciliation, formation
of a government of national unity, draft of a new era and Cairo, Baghdad
and Sharm el-Sheikh conferences . . . have come to strengthen the
sectarian division, which is the policy of occupation in the first place.
The current situation in Iraq such as the political impasse of Al-Maliki
government were anticipated and speculated by IFC. The resignations,
withdrawals and suspension of membership from Al-Maliki government are
reflections to the conflict between the parties over power sharing,
areas of influence and the distribution of wealth that have nothing to
do with the hopes and aspirations of Iraqis in terms of achieving
security, freedom and prosperity.
Worse still, a number of parties within Al-Maliki government and
National Assembly directed their militias to kill innocent people on the
basis of identity in order to change the balance of power to their favor
and strengthening their positions at the negotiation table with their
rivals.
Iraq Freedom Congress reaffirms its resolutions on the political
situation in Iraq issued in November 17, 2006 to salvage the Iraqi
society from the cycle of violence and terrorism which are listed below:
1. Ending the occupation immediately.
2. Sacking the current government and all its associated establishment
3. Forming a non-ethnic and secular government through a conference in
which all political forces, parties and representatives of workers,
students, and women are invited, this conference will be under the
supervision of the United Nations and other international organizations.
4. The newly formed government is to provide security, freedom and
prosperity to the society.
5. Dissolving and disarming all militias in the entire country
6. After its formation, the government will set a six month timetable to
make preparation for a general election on the national level
7. Making all financial and logistical resources available for each
candidate equally
8. Deployment of international observers to all Iraqi cities to ensure
the democratic process without interference or intimidation from any
group or individual against voters.
9. Facilitate full access to all media personnel to conduct full
coverage of the election
IFC reaffirms that no end to the current tragic situations in Iraq, but
the above initiative. experiencing more than four years of occupation,
destruction and sectarian and ethnic quotas did only complicated the
political scene, worsened the security situation, slaughtered hundreds
of thousands of innocent people, destroyed homes and displacement
millions inside and out of Iraq and the perpetuation of the same policy
adopted by the occupation will only further push the fate of Iraqis into
a dark tunnel and unknown fate that are irreversible.
IFC calls on Iraqis to fall into the trap of these sectarian political
parties and forces, not to be drawn behind projects that will only lead
to more killing and displacement. At the same time we call on you to get
around the banner of Iraq freedom to expel the occupation and form a
non-ethnic and secular government that defines people based on their a
humanitarian identity.

IFC Statement on Sinjar Bombings
More than 500 people were killed, all of them civilians in the town of
Sinjar as a result of the explosion of a number of detonated trucks. The
way the crime was implemented points out to Al-Qaeda groups.
This heinous crime committed against civilians coincides and contradicts
at the same time with the statement of the commander of the US forces in
Iraq on the beginning of the improvement of the security situation in Iraq
More than four years of occupation that brought sectarian groups to
power; the situation has never gotten any better. In fact the number of
killings has increased and the fate of the country is pushed further
into unknown
In addition; the terrorist groups that are supported by the
international mafia network and some countries in the region aim through
human extermination to defeat the US project to achieve their agenda.
The brutal crime committed against innocent people in the town of Sinjar
has nothing to do with religious or sectarianism or nationalism it is
part of daily crimes in all cities, Mosul and Kirkuk, Baghdad, Baiji,
Samarra, Baquba, Ramadi, Erbil and Hilla . . . etc.
Iraq Freedom Congress calls upon all Iraqis to unify their ranks and
block those terrorist gangs and expel them from the society.
Security and stability in Iraq will not prevail without ending the
occupation, and formation of a secular non-ethnic government. Iraq
Freedom Congress calls all Iraqis to raise IFC slogan "No to the
occupation . . . No to the sectarian gangs."

GUOE letter of condolences
Comrade Samir Adel
President of Iraq Freedom Congress
The Family of Abd-Hussein Saddam
We would Like to express our pain and sadness for the lose of our dear
comrade Abd-Hussein Saddam the head of IFC Safety Force, who was
assassinated by the US forces. The occupiers believe that killing these
figures; will weaken our determination to stand against the occupation
and its colonial agenda in Iraq. We reassure our obligation to IFC and
strongly believe that it is the only route to end the occupation and
restore civility. We also believe that the vicious campaign against the
General Union of Oil Employees (GUOE) is launched to serve the same
colonial objectives.
Please accept our condolences.
