Fascists Arrested

English

5 people have been arrested in connection with the Blood and Honor Redwatch site in Poland.

The site lists the names of hundreds of "traitors" "pedafiles" "leftists" "jews" etc., including addresses, phone numbers and photos. Numerous threats and a few acts of violence have ensued including the brutal stabbing of Maciej D. in Warsaw.

For months the prosecutors have been claiming to have their hands tied because RedWatch is on an American server and breaks no laws in the US. (Actually, in California there are hate speech laws and there is something also known as the "fighting words doctrine". There is also a question of libel.) The american serwer Dreamhost does not want to close down the site and the government hasn't taken measures to block it. (Even in schools, where the new far-right Minister of Education had anarchist sites blocked, you can apparently view RedWatch.) After the head rabbi of Poland was attacked on Sunday in Warsaw by a person yelling "poland for poles", the government announced they would "take action" and were apparently able to find the people who make RedWatch in less than 48 hours.

Of course there are no legal solutions to fascist problems. Few anarchists were appealing to the state for help, but rather criticizing it because we know that there are fascists in high ranking positions in the government now and that many government people explicitly support (and even fund) far-right attacks, for example against the gay parade.
