The Ongoing Struggles against the Right in Poland

Apparently the city of Bialystok legalized a pro-Giertych rally organized by fascistic Mlodziez Wszechpolska and an anti-Giertych rally organized by anarchists for tomorrow at the same time only a few meters away from each other. The right-wingers, realizing that they could only count on about 30 people to come to their demo vs. a few hundred for the anarchists, decided to cancel their action.

Tomorrow there will be a number of anti-Giertych rallies organized by anarchists and students in different cities throughout Poland.

The atmosphere is Warsaw is especially tense just days after an anti-fascist was almost killed by neo-nazis. (A benefit is being held for him on Sunday and many people are collecting money.) Just a little after the Warsaw demo starts, a group that wants to legalize marijuana also has a march and the
nazis are planning to attack it. Info was leaked so maybe they, like MW, will call off their stupid idea; the students have already said that they would act in solidarity of the pot smokers against the nazis.

In related news, the right-wingers from the League of Polish Families, claimed a few days ago that the demos are being organized by gay
organizations and the SLD, adding that anarchists do not have so many people
to organize all those demos. They said many things in the press about how gays are pedaphiles and how they have to be cleansed - and MP Wierzejski (a former skinhead and second man in the League) asked the state prosecutor to investigate the funds of gay organizations in Poland. Now the Ministry of
Education has accused the Campaign against Homophobia of "misusing" UE funds by organizing a workshop on gender. The workshop was of course approved by the previous Minister of Education and the EU but the new Ministry promises that such workshops will never happen again in Polish schools.
