SELECT SERVICE PARTNER S.A. DOES NOT RESPECT LABOUR RIGHTS AND ABUSES ITS EMPLOYEES

Our comrade Marina has been working three years for SELECT SERVICE PARTNER S.A.(SSP), a multinational company which sells fast food in airports. In the case of the airport in Palma de Mallorca this company operates the BURGER KING, Kentucky Fried Chicken, PIZZA HUT and DELIMARCHÉ franchises.

Until 8 months ago, the relations with Marina and the rest of the workers in the company were "normal" (with breaches of the collective agreement included), but the management of the company decided to squeeze the workers more and make a change in the model of human resource management in the company, replacing the old local Managing Director with a new one, Raquel Roldán Navarro. This has meant an immediate loss of employment rights for the workers who also became immersed in an atmosphere of constant harassment in the workplace.

So that you can get an idea the treatment of workers at SSP (by Raquel Roland Navarro), we'll list a few examples of cases detected by our union in workplaces at the Palma airport:

CNT has found the following situations to be widespread in the SSP chain stores:

- workers who have been employed more than 2 years (who have more rights) are bullied by the company with the intent of forcingthem to leave the company voluntarily
- workers are dismissed with false accusations
- they are forced under the threat of dismissal to work overtime with no extra pay
- no security measures are tailored to the jobs
- workers are subject to all kinds of insults
- the women are discriminated against which can affect their health and create stress-related disorders
- the company considers sick leave as "voluntary absence from work" and penalizes workers with a deduction of those days from their wages
-workers are forced to sign false documents imposing sanctions by being put into rooms behind closed doors and banging on tables to scare them.

As a result of this situation, our comrade Marina went on leave because of depression, due to the psychological abuse to which she was subjected. As if that were not enough, the company began to deny her a number of rights she had acquired in the company and wanted to force her to continue working in this environment. Given this situation our colleague has filed a claim in court, seeking compensation for psychological damages.

In retaliation for this, SSP has changed Marina's work schedule and workplace, they admonish and humiliate her in front of the customers and do not respect her right to take daily breaks for tea or going to the toilet.

The CNT expresses our disgust at SSP's abuse of their workers; this is why we have launched a campaign against the company, demanding the end of this behaviour towards our comrade and the rest of workers.
