Interview: Antifascism in Serbia
Czytelnik CIA, Sob, 2007-11-10 13:56 EnglishBACKGROUND
On October 7th there was an antifascist demonstration in Serbias second largest City, Novi Sad. The reason was, that some fascist groups wanted to march through the city center remembering Heinrich Himmler. This march was forbidden because of protests of jewish organizations. The nazis announced that they would march anyway. The Antifa-demonstration clashed with some neonazis that encountered themselves behind a fence. After a while the cops arrested some 26 neonazis, so the situation became more calm. As I was told by some friends a bigger group of neonazis walked through the city center while the demonstration was occupied with this smaller group.
Venezuela: Reforms take away what is gained through the struggle
Czytelnik CIA, Pią, 2007-11-09 16:31 English | Ruch anarchistycznyOnce again we must consider the dilemma of whether to participate or not in the electoral contest (referendum), this time with the difference that it is not a case of choosing a candidate but rather constitutional norms for the government of collective life. This situation requires careful reflection. If we heed current positions what we have is a ruling party that accepts en masse the reforms proposed by the Boss and increased embarrassingly in a premeditated manoeuvre by a servile National Assembly. The absurdities of the original constitutional reforms were so many that it set the scene for a comical fictitious debate which resulted in a plastering of equally aberrant additions. There is no serious debate of content and reasons, only discourses that are submissive to the tyrant, without any other sustaining logic than the desire to keep him in power. The rhetoric does not even justify some proposals without declining into nonsense and open contradictions. On the other hand the institutional opposition stumbles in the darkness, not knowing how to confront it, relying on discourses and spokesmen from the past. They have content themselves with showing through the media a small part of the absurdities that the Constitutional Reform contains- precisely those parts that threaten their own narrow interests- the radical rule changes of the political game and some of the resultant consequences, without any clear position or defining any sort of campaign in a concrete direction.
Poland opens new refugee camp
Czytelnik CIA, Pią, 2007-11-09 08:58 EnglishPoland has opened a refugee center for foreigners who want their refugee status made legal. The center at Przemysl, close to the border with Ukraine, can house 138 immigrants. It was built in a former military barracks at a cost of $4 million; an EU special fund supplied 85 percent of the funding. The Polish government plans to build another three refugee centers.
About 8,000 people are waiting for refugee status in Poland.

Call for an anti-NATO Protest in Bucharest
Czytelnik CIA, Śro, 2007-11-07 06:42 English | Ruch anarchistyczny20th NATO SUMMIT BUCHAREST
"We are here to thank the Government of Romania and the Romanian people for the support they have offered to us on several occasions. We are allies in the fight on terror, generally, in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are allies in promoting democracy and we appreciate the support of Romanian President." Stephen Hadley, Bush's National Security Advisor, October 23, 2005
On 21st of September the Romanian Vice Foreign Minister Victor Micula and North-Atlantic Council Secretary Berndt Götze signed the memorandum
for hosting the NATO summit in Bucharest in April next year. This 20th NATO summit will be the largest one in the history of NATO, as all the 23 member states of the NATO partnership for Peace will attend, besides 26 member states of the alliance. Approximately 3.000 high-ranking officials
are expected to participate in the summit, whose security will be guarded by some 9.000 Romanian troops, officers of the Special Guard and
Protections Service, police officers and gendarmes. The expenses of the event are estimated at 30-35 million euro. Where to find a better place to hide than in the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, the summits venue?
Campaign against the 11th European Police Congress
Czytelnik CIA, Wto, 2007-11-06 11:31 EnglishCampaign against the “11th European Police Congress“, 29th-30th of January 2008 in Berlin
Against a “Global Security Architecture”, for more security-critical behaviour!
In the recent months more information about the investigation methods of security forces has been revealed: data storage, online searches,
so-called “textual analysis of political pamphlets“ (used in the paragrpah 129a investigations against anti-G8 activists in Germany) and so forth. Police and intelligence services want to attain unrestricted access to personal data and internet user profiles. Internet providers are now forced to save their data traffic long-term in order to relieve
the police databases.

Burning 'Guys' for entertainment
We in the 'West' like to look upon ourselves as a tolerant bunch. Secular values having pervaded our every footstep and word, freedom to assemble, to march, to speak, etc. are valued highly - after all, such rights came with the blood and sweat of others fighting for them. Hence, every now and again we use them, partly in fear that we may risk losing them if we don't exercise our rights.
Suicide in South Korea
Czytelnik CIA, Wto, 2007-10-30 23:11 EnglishAt first on Saturday (10.27) in Incheon, during a demonstration of construction workers - since 120 days the KFCITU (Korean Federation of Construction Industry Trade Unions) is striking there for better working conditions [construction workers in S.K. are subjects of maximum exploitation: many of them are just irregular workers, the working time is very long - at least 6 days a week, minimum 10 hours per day, the risk of (deadly) work accidents is extreme high, the payment is very low..] - KFCITU member Jeong Hae-jin committed public suicide by burning himself. Actually a great loss, but likeley for nothing, because the S.K. capitalists and the gov't are giving a shit on actions like that!!
Later the same day in Seoul (on Yeoui-do, near the National Assembly, the S.K. parliament) the "2007 National Rally of Irregular Workers" took place. According to reports of the independent media around 2000 workers joined the rally. BTW, there are at least 8,000,000 irregular workers in S.K.!!!
Killing in Siberia Injures Russia's Green Movement
Czytelnik CIA, Wto, 2007-10-30 21:38 EnglishThus article from the Wall Street Journal describes how the arrest of one of the attackers on the Angarsk ecological camp this summer may have been related to business interests.
Marina Rikhvanova is a mother of Russia's green
movement. Last year, she led thousands of protesters into the streets of this Siberian city against an oil pipeline that would have skirted the
pristine waters of Lake Baikal. Afterwards, President Vladimir Putin scrubbed the plan.
This spring Ms. Rikhvanova put together new rallies against Kremlin plans to turn the Irkutsk region into a center for processing nuclear
fuel. She helped protesters plan a tent bivouac near the fuel plant, and printed leaflets for campers to hand out to locals, warning of the
dangers of radioactive leakage.
One morning in late July she got a phone call telling her the campers had been attacked in their sleep by masked men armed with metal pipes
and wooden clubs. One camper was beaten to death.

US, Call of the anarchist WSA: Against War and War Profiteers?: Organize for Freedom!
Czytelnik CIA, Nie, 2007-10-28 10:52 English | Ruch anarchistycznyThe Iraq war is a tragedy that is increasingly vivid to everyone. The wasted human life and massive scale of destruction being waged by the US government and allied forces is horrifying. This war is being perpetuated by the interests of
the State and business, which benefit directly from war. Iraq is important to them for a number of reasons. It is located strategically in a geographical and military center of power in the middle east. The natural resources of Iraq
compound this importance, despite whatever short term costs a war might have on oil production. The costs of the war to the State are great, both in terms of the economic costs and the loss of support within and around the world. Still
the conquest of power and wealth fuel their lust.
Italy: FdCA statement on the Vicenza demonstrations against the US military base
Czytelnik CIA, Sob, 2007-10-27 07:03 EnglishItaly: FdCA statement on the Vicenza demonstrations against the US military base
The mobilizations in Vicenza to block the opening of a new military base in the Dal Molin area are an important milestone for the whole anti-war movement, with two important aspects emerging. On the one hand, the experience of Vicenza has placed the question of military bases at the heart of the initiative, a step forward from the ethical approach of rejecting war, by pinpointing and proposing concrete objectives for anti-militarist action. On the other hand, the "No Dal Molin" movement is a fine example of social resistance to the militarization of society and direct democracy. With the lies of the governing parties both local and national being unmasked, parties who were involved in the decision-making processes that has allowed the US government to pursue its aim of strategically redefining its role in international affairs, this movement is part of a wider trend made up of a great many local committees (from the No Tav movement in the Val di Susa to the No Mose movement in Venice, to the many local struggles for the environment and on public health issues) which are an important feature of that part of society that has no intention of submitting to the decisions of people who treat the land as a means of making profit, or to the policy of huge public works with devastating impact both on an environmental level and on the social level.
Yuppie Scum Government Starts Economic "Therapy"
Akai47, Pią, 2007-10-26 06:56 EnglishThe Civic Platform Party won Sunday's elections in Poland as millions of angry Poles flocked to the ballot boxes to "vote out" the government of Jaroslaw Kaczynski which had been busy trying to carry out purges of all the "dangerous elements" from public life - the government, educational system and even the media. What the people got was a party of heartless yuppie scum eager to employ Thatcherism as soon as possible and get the money rolling in the direction of their corporate friends and sponsors.
Within less than 24 hours after their victory, the "Platformers" had announced their plans to introduce not only a flat tax, but a single flat tax of 15% for both personal income tax and corporate. And then a new wave of privatization. (The state treasury still holds shares in about 1200 industries. This includes famous places like the Ciegelski factory in Poznań where there have been many workers' struggles recently. It's 100% state owned.)
The third promise of the week is to raise the retirement age to 67.
We can assume that this will be followed by the usual budget cuts, the privatization of the public health care system, the reduction of certain benefits to farmers and "reform" of the pension system.
